A combination of Ward insulated panels has been used to complement the
rural environment at a new Medical Education Centre at Chesterfield Royal
Hospital.
The building, which is situated adjacent to a golf course, is located on an
exposed green field site and required a product durable yet sympathetic to
its surroundings. Ward green DW1000D Wall Panels in Celestia Pegasus finish
were specified by project architects Wm Saunders Partnership as a cost affective
product to blend in with the rural landscape.
In addition Ward IP1000 insulated roof panels were specified for the two mono-pitched
roofs at the Hospital and the unique Ward Topdek pre-insulated membrane roof
panel was used for the flat roof area to the building.
Adam Hirst, Architect at Wm Saunders Partnership, says: “Ward insulated
panels were ideal for this project. The education centre is visible for several
kilometres and the green panel, insulated render and terracotta tiles provide
a rich palate of natural colours, aesthetically suited to the surrounding landscape.”
Approved Ward contractors Hadfield Roofing & Cladding Ltd performed the
installation for the project. Bob Shaw, Estimator at Hadfield Roofing & Cladding
Ltd adds: “By choosing Ward insulated panels, installation only took
half the time to complete compared to traditional built-up roofing systems,
saving considerable labour costs.’
All Ward roof and wall panel systems comply with the latest Part L2 & J
insulation regulations and incorporate an LPCB approved Firesafe insulation
core.
The main contractor for Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospital NHS
Trust was Henry Boot Construction (UK) Ltd.
