A Ward Insulated Panels has teamed up with Advanced Roofing & Flooring Ltd to supply and install 15,000m² of Ward's composite single ply roof decking, Topdek on a new Tesco store in Evesham, Worcester. The remarkable speed of installation resulted in the store opening ahead of schedule.

Ward Topdek is a pre-engineered, one piece roof panel comprising a trapezoidal steel support deck, PIR insulation core and an integral PVC outer membrane. The PIR insulation provides a fire rated core approved to LPBC standards.

Roofing contractors Advanced Roofing & Flooring Ltd completed the installation in only 15 days, using Ward's unique self-coring fastener. Richard Clapp, Operation Director at Advanced Roofing & Flooring Ltd comments: "The speed of installation for this project was remarkable. The use of the SFS self-coring fastener is thought to have saved almost one third of the installation time, considerably reducing labour costs."

The recently developed self drilling and self tapping fastener, eliminates the necessity for the traditional three stage coring and drilling process and features a torque internal drive and spiral cutting washer which flattens out once installed.

Mick Roughan, Contracts Manager at Bowmer & Kirkland, main contractors for Tesco Evesham adds: "The fast-track programme for the new store in Evesham meant this project had tight time restrictions and the use of Ward Topdek positively contributed to the speedy completion of the project, almost 3 weeks ahead of schedule. This of course meant the store could open earlier and cash tills ring sooner, resulting in a very satisfied customer!"

The impressive canopy at the front of the building demonstrates Topdek's architectural versatility.
