Hip Detail (Section X-X) (enh) |
|
|

Hip Details
Two basic hip configurations, namely ridge
and valley, are commonly used in roof
constructions. Each type of hip is unique
and must be given separate attention on
detail.
Supporting steel is required at each side of
the hip or valley line to provide support to
the Ward panels. The steelwork must be
level with the purlin in all cases.
On valleys a shallow gutter section must
be accommodated by the steel-work detail.
This can entail notching or setting back the
purlin to obtain sufficient clearance at this
junction.
Ridge Type
The insulated panel is fixed to the support
steel and sealed to the internal ridge trim.
Rake cut fillers, manufactured to suit the
angle of the hip, fill the panel profile and
seal the hip flashing.
