Ward Insulated Panels
DW Range (Hz) : Product Data

Application

The Ward DW Range Wall panel features a tongue and groove concealed fixing which can be laid horizontally or vertically and is suitable for all building applications All DW Wall panels are supplied with a fire safe Polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation system with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (Zero ODP). This panel forms the basis for a variety of construction specific applications.

These are summarised as follows:-

Standard Industrial LPC approved – HCFC free
Insurer approval by compliance with Loss Prevention Council approval is in most respects the standard requirement for all new constructions. The standard panel of all thickness’s with insulation and the standard construction details shown in this section ensures compliance with this basic requirement.

In addition, by the use of small changes to the application detail, panels of 80 mm to 100mm thickness will comply with LPC Grade EXT A15.

The EXT reference signifies approval for use on the external envelope of the building and the A15 reference confirming the panels fire resistance; namely a minimum fire Insulation and fire Integrity under test of 15 minutes and 30 minutes respectively.

In typical applications therefore the standard panels may be used as a firewall to comply with the UK Building Regulations when the wall is greater than one metre from the notional boundary. Detail of the joint requirements for this application are shown in the construction details section.

All DW Range panels comply with current legislation are CFC free and HCFC free and have zero Ozone Depletion Potential.

Internal environment is an important factor in determining the way in which the building envelope is constructed. The details noted in this section and the standard panel are suitable for building with internal humidity class 1 to 4 as described in BS EN ISO 13788:2002.

In terms of Part L & J requirements of the building regulations, the standard construction details shown in this section are designed to be Robust and help the building designer in ensuring compliance with the requirements.

Model and NBS type specifications are available for all construction applications.

Building Standards Scotland – Firewalls
In the Building Standard for Scotland, purpose group categories defined as medium risk require a minimum fire insulation value of 30 minutes. Ward can provide a 100 mm thickness enhanced side joint firewall panel for these applications referenced DWFW30. This panel actually provides fire Insulation and fire Integrity under test of 30 minutes and 60 minutes respectively.

High humidity. Low temperature, Food Safe environments.
Where internal environments are considered aggressive or extreme in terms of humidity and durability enhanced panel specifications and construction details may be required.

Protective coatings to the internal liner are available that are more suitable for aggressive conditions or longer durability. In addition construction details at the panel joints, ends and junctions will require consideration along with the choice of fastener material.

Ward Technical Service can provide Model and NBS specifications for specific construction applications.
